![]() ![]() Even the mighty Raijin shield will eventually break, and Thunders don't do much from 350m, but usually there are just enough rockets around. Thunder Raijin, just drop back to 300m and pound it if you have rockets, or to 350m if you have Tarans. Both are very situational: In some situations they are great, in other situations too easy to counter IMO. An Orkan Rhino is also a good alternative, as it allows you to charge an enemy robot (especially Thunder/Punisher/Molot builds) and get within 300m for your rockets.īut back to the question. So if you're really looking for a good BR robot, and don't have a Thunder Carnage yet, give it a shot. And of course the shield of the Carnage will regenerate. I found that even if the reds are about to turn the beacon I often spawn 150-200m away from the reds, so a Raijin always has to move closer, and can't use its shield, while the Carnage shield is automatic. Yeah, it rocks to drop a Thunder bot in beacon rush if the reds are at point blank range, but a Thunder Carnage is better suited for that because it can get within 100m where Thunders are dominant. If you don't, then there are plenty of other beacons around. If you see a stationary bot, just have a look and decide if you like the matchup. Let us know how you get on with it.The idea of a "beacon defender" is overrated. Once you’ve practised that principle it’s amazing how reliably you can climb many structures without a 90 degree corner at the base. The key principle to any climbing with the Raijin is to keep your forward most facing leg on the structure you’re trying to climb at all times. Starting out trying to climb it can be frustrating and time wasting if you don’t know what you’re doing. The other main map which has already been mentioned is Yamantau on the roof of the bridge. Avoid bastion mode in this situation, that’s all. You can also peek up again and take a shot once you’ve reloaded. Just note that you will slowly slide down from here, but as long as you prop yourself up again every now and then you can hold it all day. Of course if you have multiples pushing home beacon, you should take cover. Last but certaonly not least, you should be taking note of any Griffins or Rogatkas on the field and trying to hit them with Zeus at EVERY opportunity. ![]() From the tower behind home beacon you can provide support fire for both side beacons, get snipers standing on the enemy hill on the other side, and sting enemies advancing on the home beacon before they even realise you’re there, as you are always out of their direct line of sight or they assume you are still at spawn behind the tower. In the centre even an Orkan Rogatka can become a major problem. I prefer it climbing the centre structure because you have more defensive possibilities. From here you have the best midrange coverage of the entire field. Once you’re on top, you have many options for midrange (ignore my Thunders in the pic, it’s just a demo I did). My favourite was always in Moon on the tower just right of spawn. To answer your question here are two of the best climbing spots for the Raijin. has already linked to his older post, which contains most of the good stuff you should be thinking about. However, the Raijin can in limited instances be more useful than a Fury, especially with two Zeus, Tempest or Thunders (Beacon Rush). That’s a great resume on paper, but I’ll admit, I still prefer Zeus Carnage for the extra mobility in this situation, especially with so many dashbots with Orkans. The Raijin has two physical shields, more HP than a Leo, the ability to climb high structures to make up for its low firing profile, AND in bastion mode it’s almost as powerful as a Fury. Since you often face maxed Champion League players, you often need a strong midranger to counter them. Raijin is best used as an alternative to the Fury by players stuck in the iOS Diamond 1/Expert 3 matchmaking hole. He can be a tough critter to take down when used well, or a giant sack of enemy silver when not.
